If you need to have your computer turn off at a specific time, this can be easily done using a Schedule Task.

1. Go to Control Panel > Scheduled Tasks.
2. Create a new task with the following entries:

Run: C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe -s -f
Start In: C:\WINDOWS\system32\
Run As:
Schedule Task: Daily
Start Time: 11:45 PM
Every: 1 days
Idle Time: Put a checkmark in the only start the task if the computer has been idle for at least 15 minutes.

3. Click OK.
4. Enter a password (for the account to run under), if prompted.
