Software "Layer" Technology

Ever wanted to install something to see how it would work? Then find out it messes up your computer? And then uninstall it - but your computer is still messed up? Well some software technology exists that provides a way for you to create a "layer" of software on your computer that you can enable or disable or delete.

The layering technology essentially prevents the installation program from physically modifying your computer - and it contains all the changes in a special software file. Your computer does not know the difference (that is where the technology comes in). But you have control.

The software is FREE for personal (non-commercial) use. It used to be called Altiris but it was bought by Symantec and it is now called Juice SVS. You can download it from http://www.svsdownloads.com/ It comes as a .zip file and you can install it.

Once installed, you can "turn it on" and create a "layer" that will capture the changes from the installer (it makes you choose the installer and then starts that installer for you).
