QR Codes

11:58 AM
Overview
A Quick Response Code (QR Code) is a special type of barcode which uses square patterns on a white background.  This special barcode can contain much more information than the typical barcode that you are used to seeing.  The origin comes from the automotive industry, according to Wikipedia

But what can YOU use it for:
  • Links to Videos or Pictures
  • Links to Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Email Addresses
  • Phone Numbers
  • Events on Calendars
  • Wifi Logins
  • Paypal Buy Now links
  • iTunes
  • Google Maps location
  • Any website
So, the question is, why aren't you using it?  It is super simple.  Just go to http://www.qrstuff.com/ and create your QR code.

Step-By-Step
  1. Go to http://www.qrstuff.com/
  2. Enter in the URL and hit ENTER.
  3. Download the QR code by clicking on the Download QR Code and save it to your computer.

Reading a QR Code
You will need an app on your phone to read it.  Just go to your application store on your smart phone and search for QR Reader.  I use the QR Reader by Tap Media on my iPhone.  Its free.
  1. Open the application.
  2. Center the camera so it can see the QR code clearly.
  3. The app will do the rest.

You can practice this on your screen by scanning the following:
